Yup. Find the 5volt line on the USB connector and put a good voltmeter on
it. If it's high, then you need to look at board level repair on the mother
board. Whether you want to do it or send it back is up to you at that point.

Thanks Aaron. By the time I get around to tearing this down, the new mobo
should be here. I'll likely just flash the bios, load the drivers for my
Matrox P750, reconnect all my stuff and try to get on down the road with it.
Ive got mixes to do here and not a lot of time for futzing around. I'll
check the voltage on the USB connector on the old mobo afterward.

Deej, does your BIOS allow for changing the USB voltage?
Boot 'er up & look around in there under either "integrated
peripherals" or you might also have a section that
says "frequency/voltage control", where you can set CPU, PCI,
and USB votages by percentages, + or -.

Hi DJ,
Did you disable the USB ports in the BIOs or any of the feature of the
USB in the BIOS?

No, I didn't change anything and totally disabling the USB ports doesn't
change anything either.
