Intel 975XBX2KR based Cubase 4 DAW - Any tips? [message #83055]

Alright....so after a bunch of ill-fated issues with my 939 mobo AND it's
friggin' replacement, I just caved , followed Mr. Ludwig's advice and picked
up the following for my Cubase 4 rig:

Intel E6600
Intel 975XBX2KR motherboard
Samsung 2 x 1 gig DDR2 667mhz ram
XFX G7600 GS dual dvi

I know at least a couple of you are using this motherboard for your Cubase
rigs. Any advice you'd care to share?

Well, I bought the board and it's working well after one bad board. You
need to keep the cpu under 60 C at all times. You need to load the raid
drivers for the black sata ports even if you don't do raid. The board runs
great.

I have a bunch of xp tweaks I'll post later on when I have my other pc turned
on.

e6600 should be very fast, i got the e6700 and it's zoomin, at .7ms latency
it uses 30% cpu but i run at 3ms and it's at like 5%.

It only has one jumper which is great. Make sure to load the latest bios
using either a floppy or burning the bootable cd image. That's it, you should
be smoking. enjoy it and make music instead of dinking around (except for
the forthcoming tweaks). Finally we get to make music!!!!!

Hey Jon and John
I'd be curious to hear what sort of track counts, including FX and synths
(if you're using them -the synths I mean). I'm thinking about the same set
up -as per Chris' suggestion. From your comments John, it sounds like
computer speeds have finally turned a corner allowing for adequate track
counts for a whole ITB solution. If so... awesome.

I'll look forward to the suggested tweaks.
I'm also looking forward to actually making some some music as opposed to
incessant studio/convoluted daw maintenance.
