Doug:

I have an ADS Pyro PCI 1394 (FW400) card - it has the TI chipset, and
has served me well, using it with a MOTU 828 MkII, an M-Audio Profire
Lightbridge, a Sony DVCAM video deck, etc...

Wasn't $20, but I don't even think about FW problems anymore.

I believe Adaptec and SIIG make reputable units, as well.

PS - don't confuse the ADS PCI card with the ADS Pyro A/V Link converter
box (a 1394 <> analog audio/video transcoder box)- a bigger POS I have
never seen in my life, including Behringer products!

I'm using a SIIG without problems (PT M-Powered) but it is PCIe.
