I am freaking out here. I had already used the UAD multiband for mastering
some dixieland jazz tracks and was really pleased with it. Tonight I am working
on a "Lincoln Park/Coldplay-esque"
type of track and the vocal, although it was recorded fairly well[not by
me..:-)]has a few frequency warts here and there, mostly low mid proximity
stuff. I had it sounding pretty good with conventional compression/eq, but
just for grins I took those off and put the Multiband on it. I freaked out!
I've used multibands before, (Waves linear, and DB)but this just made me
not believe what I was hearing. It sound really natural and evened out the
vocal in a really pleasing way. I'll probably go to bed and check it in the
morning, just to make sure I'm not crazy, but I'm loving this thing.

Hey Rod,
Haven't bought it yet, but the demo impressed me - it's on my list now. I'm
not a multiband compression fan as it usually ends up destroying as much as
it fixes, but UAD's is very flexible and sounds really good. I used it to
fix a voiceover that another studio over compressed without de-essing
(sigh...almost too much compression even for UAD's MB, but it worked the
best of any correction method I tried). Like any other MB, too much of it
can open a new can of worms of course, but this one has the best UI of any
I've used.
Fortunately this time the client came to me for the voiceover
recording...:-)

It's very versatile. I tried using it as a shortcut on a mastering of a
song Im mixing here. Remixing was the best option as the MB started wankin
around with the rest of the universe.......it seems to have a little color,
even when in neutral, but I can sure see using it if remixing isn't an
option.
