CAT5 won't. Even if it fired, the collisions/loss wouldn't be worth it.
CAT5e 'might'. Depends on cable quality and length, I've seen it go both
ways. I still wouldn't do this route if you like data integrity.
Your physical limit is 310 ft of CAT6. I don't go past 300 ft, on principle
of hating failures/sketchy quality. We use Belden where I work, it seems to
be just fine. Avoid wierdo off brands, those I've had trouble with..
especially the jacket. Nothin' will piss you off like pulling a 250ft run
and finding out if kinked 'somewhere' in the middle of it and pinched the
wire into oblivion because of a shoddy jacket.
Also, be sure to wire it to spec, of the crosstalk will kill ya:
