I hope you guys can help me with this. I tried to install some new VST plug-ins
and I think I may have put them in the wrong folder and now paris will not
start up. I have deleted all of my plug-ins. At start up of paris it pauses
and I get this message:
"The VST path you have specified can no longer be found. You will not have
access to VST plug-ins until you specify a new path from the setting menu".
( I can not fix this until I open paris) Am I Right?
Next I click ok and it acts as if it is going to start and it pauses again
and I get this Debug message: "Assertion Failed: afilesearchWin.c:58sd->signature==Test_SIG"
Does anyone now what this means.
I am using Win.98 3 cards and 2 mecs

System restore was made for XP, however, microsoft later released updates
for 2000, ME, 98, etc. You would have had to update your 98 OS to get it. It
would reside in your Program/Accessories/System Tools menu.
I would just try to get your EDS plugin folder, and your VST folder restored
as closely as possible, and then see what happens.
What version of Paris are you using?

Terry, I may be off base here but its possible that the VST path may in the
paris config file in your EMU folder. Open it up using notepad and check it
out, you may be able to edit it directly rite there.
If I was at my DAW, I could confirm but not sure.

Hey Rob my system is telling me that notepad is to small for this, and that
I need to use word pad. So, for some reason my wordpad is not working and
my system will not acknowledge my win. 98 CD. (When it rains it pours) Any
ideal about the "Assertion Failed" problem or do you think they are tied
together.

You can open "Paris.cfg" in any kind of texteditors like Wordpad,
Words etc. Just remember after deleting the VSTpath, save it as a
textfile and be sure to manually change the txt ending to cfg.
When starting Paris again, it will not search for any VSTpath, as far
as I remember.

Yea Terry, like Erling said, just change the cfg to txt, then open in
notepad, edit, save, then change back to cfg. I would make a backup of the
original cfg before you edit just in case things go haywire.
