I read this article a few years ago and had considered looking into linux
more, just based on this article. I never got around to even playing with
linux... But it is something some of you may find interesting. I like the
awesome idea of having the same mix and controls SSH'd in the master room
as the control room. I just don't know enough about networking to do something
like that... but that would be awesome. I remember someone mentioned on
here that they were working with using CAT5 connections to send audio...
wonder how that ever panned out?

Here is the article for those that missed it in 2004... I wonder if this
studio is still going strong with the same setup.

There are remote control solutions available on every operating system. As
long as you have a network you can remotely control your DAW from a laptop.

There are also remote control solutions that work wirelessly from both the
iPhone to your daw, and windows mobile phones to your daw.

Since there are at least 5 commercial plugins that seamlessly send audio
over network from DAW to DAW, and they all seem to work I dropped all efforts
on that front.

I think ardour is a lot further along than it was in 2004, but still not
as far along as reaper, but that doesn't (really) run on linux.
