Heard it, not impressed at all. Alice Cooper does better work in 3 months.
17 years and 13 million dollars....hilarious. Zeppelin was recorded in
2 weeks and mixed in 2 days....just a bit of perspective

I haven't heard the album but I heard a couple clips that I actually
thought sounded really good (the song "Better" or whatever it is), and
read some lyrics that were also well written. It also seems to be
cinematic in aspiration, which is something I like.

Compared to the current state of rock music, the G n'R clips I heard
sounded fresh (ironically) and has some passion. I really can't stand
the corporate rock shit that is out their today, it makes my skin crawl-
which is why I haven't been able to listen to much new rock in the last
few years, and usually gravitate towards electronica and acid jazz or
Radiohead or old Faith no More albums.

I think I may actually pick it up though.. maybe I'm just intrigued from
the hype.

Cheers,

TC

;-)

Still haven't picked it up and actually heard the cd yet, so you may be
correct.

As for your constipation problem, I prefer a nice bowl of Fiber 1 for
that task.. thanks for sharing though..

Cheers,

TC

I actually really, really like it. It wasn't what I expected at all. But,
the more I listen to it, the more it grows on me. I'm not defending 17 years
and 13 million, but I'm glad it finally came out.

It sounds like a solo album. You can tell it's all one writer. But, I've
missed production on rock albums. It just seems like everything I've heard
lately has been done fast and cheap with nothing much interesting about it.
This album has interesting layers and sounds. The best part is that I don't
think the layering and the production have reduced the emotion conveyed,
as can happen.

In my car, the vocals sound like they were mixed too low and the snare sounds
a bit too loud, but they both sound fine on my beloved NS10s.

Hey, maybe it will spark a trend of spending more money on recording. :)

All the best,

Mike

Cool, I'm going to go buy it then. I like big production, and layers and
emotion and attitude.

What I can't stand is contrived slop that's geared to radio, with lyrics
that seem like they were written by a 12 year old.. (which is most of
the rock out there today).

That's what made "Appetite" so brilliant, and Nirvana's "Nevermind", and
Soundgarden, and Faith no More.. it was all emotional rock music that
wasn't contrived, or at least didn't come off that way to me..

I seriously can't listen to radio today, it makes me barf..

Cheers,

TC

And to think I thought it was Ann Wilson singing on half the songs.

I think you're accurate from what I heard tonight... listened to 3 of them.
Things were coolish, very Alice Cooper circa 2000+, until someone started
beating that cat.... er,.. I mean Axl started torturing that mic.... er, I
mean my ears. I can't speak to the mix, it was coming out of juke box, and
the drums sounded pretty overcompressed and lame/gutless... again, coulda
been the juke box. Not sure I'll investigate it any further at this point.
Glad I wasn't waiting for this album 17 years.
Yuk.

You're ears are correct. My favorite line is that it appears they rushed
the album. haha
