Is there such a beast? I've got a paris asio driver that I thought was intended
for XP but it doesn't seem to work. It's 64kb in size, I thought the 98 one
was 29kb. It's just a dll and no matter where I put it I can't get wavelab
or sonar to recognize it. Is there a magic location or have I just got it
all wrong? Any help would be great, thanks!

Hi Ralph; I'm not in front of my equipment right now, but I can give you the status of PARIS ASIO as I understand it in brief point form:

- there are actually two ASIO drivers; one was officially released with PARIS before its discontinuation and one was released later by Matt Craig in 2003.

- neither is fully functional; both have slightly different limitations (although I can't detail them right now because I don't have the info in front of me at the moment)

- recently Mike Audet thoroughly refurbished the underlying PARIS hardware drivers. The ASIO drivers relied on those drivers in their turn, so that minimized/killed some of the show-stopping bugs in ASIO (although it added no new functionality)

- I was getting pretty solid performance out of REAPER as far back as six months ago using the (at that time pre-beta) drivers of Mike's plus the original PARIS ASIO drivers

- solid ASIO is a priority for Mike and he reckons he may be getting some work done on them soon, work schedule permitting

- the word "soon" has been refurbished and bugfixed as well, and it should function normally now Very Happy

ID really screwed that word for this group, didn't they..... I still cringe
when I hear it.

Soon has been a heart breaker around here.

I am looking forward to working on the ASIO driver, though. I've got March break starting on March 13th. So, that's when I'll be diving into it. It may take until the summer to get it done, but I'm committed to getting it working with Adobe Audition.

I just finished mixing a punk song for some kids at the school. I've used nolimit on the main mix set to 56% mix, while giving about 6 dB of compression. I can't even believe how much it helps the tracks glue together without messing up the high end like limiters tend to do. PARIS hasn't given me even one hiccup while working on this thing.

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks for the info! I've got two different ASIO drivers so I'm assuming one
of them is the Matt Craig version. I can't see either of them with xp, where
do I put the suckers? Is there some sort of install procedure?

Sorry for the late reply, I've been away. I promise to respond 'sooner' next
time.
