Hey folks -

This is an old Q: I always thought the S/PDIF I/O on the MEC
was 24 bit. I was just cleaning out some files and found the
original MEC Manual 1.10 which says that it's only 20 bit.
Was it upgraded through firmware in version 2 or something? Is
it in fact 24 bit? Memory's a little fuzzy...

Hmm... I was pretty sure the SP/DIF on the MEC was 24 bit myself.

From memory, (sometimes dubious), it has always been 20 bit, although some
have been able to pass more, (AA)?

Yes, this is correct. V1.2 of the Paris software changed the 20 Bit MEC
SPDIF out to 24 Bit. The 442 is now, and always has been, 20 Bit.
