I'm thinking of adding a PCIe ADAT card to my system so I can run Reaper in sync with paris. Ideally I'd like this in a PCIe form factor.

What should I be looking for? I assume that ADAT 9 pin sync will be required in order to have Reaper respond to Paris as a slave. Or, is MTC good enough? I don't mind paying more for peace of mind....

RME cards look nice, but are pricey. Is there anything else to consider?

I've been considering an E MU 1212 which would give me ADAT, Midi, and I?O. Plus a good software suite. Availablle in PCI and PCIe factors, and relatively cheep Confused

I looked at that one...$170 or so. Price seems right, but how do you sync between applications? MTC I suppose...

RME is excellent, solid as a rock over here and with great drivers. RME cards will handle 9-pin ADAT sync, but note this is on PC only - they have to turn it internally into APP (ASIO Positioning Protocol, a form of sample accurate sync) and Mac OSX doesn't do ASIO, it does Core Audio.

I got both of mine used on Craigslist - I think the 9652 cost me $400 CAD but I'd just missed one at $290 and was in a hurry.
