Anyone ever hear these? I've heard the smaller B&W's (DM-
series, I think), and the really f*king super high-end ones
that look like R2D2 with a tweeter on it's head, but not this
series... anyone ever use them?
I ask because I was out running errands today & noticed that a
local hi-fi place has 701's (not hooked up, though) and the
price seemed reasonable - $799 each. (well, reasonable for that
level of quality, from what I've heard of their other stuff).
Anyone?
BTW, Deej - when I was out & about, I was able to find exactly
ONE half-rack-height spacer... no vents, jsut a solid spacer. I
grabbed it in case you can use it -I don't even know if one is
even worth shipping, though - lemme know if you can use it,
otherwise I can always just return it.

Excellent choice for classical and jazz work. Also great for high quality
audio for TV/video. Would not be my first choice for rock or R&B because
they won’t add any energy, and they don’t handle loud.

Geno - but what if I DON'T want any attitude? IOW, what if I
want to hear the RAWK with added energy, as in a damn good
refence monitor for playback purposes? Would they be good for
that?
Also, B&W - I've heard their stuff tends to like a lot of
power pumped into them... you're saying that particular series
doen't like that, though, yes?

They like and need a lot of power. They are fairly inefficient but good speakers.
You should give them a listen as see for yourself if they will work.
I like the new 805S a lot.

I'll try & demo them. $799 apiece is NOT bad if they are kinda
like a baby-brother equivalent to the 801's, which I know a
number of places - including Abbey Road - use for mastering.
