MEC and eds cards under water [message #91638]

My studio in Stamford CT was under five feet of water. Does my paris hardware
stand a chance ? I have a mec with two 8in, one 8 out, a c16, and two eds
cards.

It probably does. Computer gear (save hard drives) can usually go through
a washer and come out OK. The most important thing to do is let everything
dry COMPLETELY before turning it on. Take all of the external metal you can
off of the MEC so the boards can dry out. Pull the MEC cards (carefully)
so the contacts can dry out. Then lay everything out and point a fan at it
and let it blow for a day or two, turning everything over to be sure it's
dry. (I've used a blow dryer before but that can heat things up too much
if you're not careful). After that I'd try turning on the MEC only and seeing
if anything works. Then add one card at a time. You might get lucky, or you
might not. But if you start firing the stuff up when it's wet you're cooked.
