Hi,
Can anyone help me with this?
I try to open Paris and during the loading I get a message that says "registry
error make sure product is installed properly"
Then I get an unhandles exception: c0000005
At address:1496dd3a box that comes up and it tells me it has to close do
I want to send a report to microsoft. Paris then shuts down and sometimes
the computer shuts down to and restarts.
I have reloaded Paris with no luck, any suggsetions as to what this might
be?

Corrupted Default Project 'unhandled exception: c0000005 at address:
00481382'
'Paris has caused an error in Paris.exe'
1. Delete or move the offending default project file out of the Paris
directory.
2. De install Paris.
3. Go to the windows system folder and
a. delete the directory that says Ensoniq if present
b. delete the file Paris_StudioControlLibrary.dll if present
c. Reinstall Paris
4. Start with one card.
5. If necessary, go to plain vanilla system, meaning ALL cards removed
except
for video and 1-EDS. Once that is working, start adding others one at
a
time until all is working.
I am not suspecting your card swapping for the moment because it
sounds like
the hardware initialized, but then could not open the
default_project.ppj.
This makes me think it was a corrupted ppj file, or other corrupted
Paris
components. Hence the above advice.
Some things to make note of:
1. Did Paris work initially with your new advancesys scsi card or did
it
stop working immediately after you installed the new card?
2. If you remove the advancesys and put everything else back where it
was
before, does it all work fine? (you may need to force a PnP update via
your
bios)

I was getting this warning on a regular basis after switching between
different projects and almost always when trying to open a new project
I then uninstalled and reinstalled Paris and all it's goodies as per
Dimitrios' recomendations. in the C root directory I believe
After that I got this warning less frequently but usually after working on
three different projects andtrying to open a fourth.
I mentioned this problem to the guy who's built and upgraded my paris rig
from day one and he seemend to think it had something to do with Paris or
the computer not fully clearing out the memory of the preceeding project so
just for the hell of it I tried something very simple...when the time came
to change to a fourth project I would close the third and wait at least 15
seconds before opening the fourth...guess what, no more warnings/crashes
Don't know if this will work for you but it has made playing with Paris a
lot more enjoyable

Yes, in XP if you give paris more time to open/close projects, it doesn't
crash nnneearly as much if at all. I suspect your friend is on the right
path though I'm not sure if it's the multi threaded part of the app or the
XP hardware drivers that cause it and I may never know.. which is ok, all I
need is to know how to avoid the crashes :)

Hi,
Thanks for your suggestions. I've tried these things but I keep getting a
"registry error, make sure application is installed properly" box. This is
while it's loading during the loading of the EDS/Direct loading segment it
goes through. Could it be because of some other program I installed in the
last week?
Like Stylus RMX, Trilogy or Cubase SE? I also tried a demo of Massive and
Tera. Any of these tend to cause a problem?

Carol.
If your Paris VST folder shares with the Cubase VST folder, and
you have virtual instruments installed, almost certainly these
will play havoc with Paris. Try temporarily moving all the
vsti DLL's out of the VST folder and then try launching PARIS.
Also you could temporarily change the entry in the Paris.cfg file, (found
in the directory where Paris is installed), from
"DisableDirectX=0" to "DisableDirectX=1".

Kim,
I tried your suggestion but no luck. I moved all the VSt's out. I still get
the "registry error make sure program is installed properly"
I alsoremoved the scherzo files from the system 32 file
then reinstalled the drivers then reinstalled the drivers,then reinstalled
Paris and still get that error. What could be going on?

Ahh, just realised that you are having the c00000005 (or whatever
it is..) problem.
It's a sticky one, but I had this sometime ago.
In my case changing RAM and flashing the Bios on the mobo fixed
it.
If you have some spare RAM, try it. If not, and you have at least
two modules, try pulling one out and swapping.
What mobo/hardware configuration are you running?
Have you installed V3 with all the fx subsystem fixes correctly?
Search the NG for a thread entitled "XP tweaks for Paris share findings"
and you may find some clues there.

Kim,
I've got a P4 3.00 GHZ ACPI Multiprocessor PC 1.99 GB RAM, SP2
Just not sure why all of a sudden I'm getting these mesages when it used
to work a few weeks ago.
I don't know how the FLASH the Bios, (is it easy enough to try?) and I'm
only running 1 card.
I will check out the tweaks and try them.

ahhhhh... the ole' multiprocessor problem. In the early days of multi
core/CPU, I remember BT getting it to work for a short while then it slowly
degrades the more it was used. He never said 'what' degrades, but I wonder
if that's what you have going here. Did you shut down the 2nd core?

Hi Carol.
Not suggesting you flash the bios is it was working.
In my case, it was a box I put together for Paris, and
It was flakey to start with until I did the bios update.
However, Ram could still be an issue.

Hmm.
You may have a point. I'm still running sp1 with an athlon 64
in uniprocessor mode.
It is bulletproof until I start adding LOTS of plugins, comprising
DX and VST. Then it gets a little flakey. I save often.
Carol's box was working fine until a few weeks ago.
Carol, Have you turned off hyperthreading in the bios?
What motherboard is it?, and what other cards are in your system?

Hi,
I've tried a few other things and no luck. I just don't understand the "registry
error" I'm getting on Paris startup during the EDS/Direct FX loading part.
Could a RAM problem cause this error? Kim how do I shut off the hyperthreading
in the Bios, I'm willing to try it. No other extra cards installed. The mother
board is a BTX Intel Desktop Board D915GMH
800/533 MHz FSB PCI Express X16 Graphic Connector, Dual Channel DDR 400/333
MHz Memory Support
One more question if I can't get this to work I may try to find an old computer
somewhere with 98 on it or XP SP1 and reinstall. If I do that I will need
a new challenge and response code. Is INTDevices still taking those requests?

If you've never screwed around with bios settings, just be a bit
careful. Disable hyperthreading, and "core multiplexing technology".
Then "exit and save changes".
Not sure if this will fix the problem, but for Paris these should be off
anyway.

Thanks Kim, diabled it but still no luck, thanks for the Bios info.
Another question. I have a Mac G5, Os X, can I install the EDS 1000 card
in that and use the Mac software and drivers? Can't find anything about there
being a different version card for the Mac but maybe there is. And if it
is possile Will my ppj files done on a PC open in the Mac?

G5/OSx will not run Paris. The last Mac compatible OS was 9.22.
