I'm sitting here doing microsoldering all day...

arrggghhh....

One of our guys on a jobsite thought a 100ft 25pin D-sub cable
was going away (it was part of the old system) so, to make things
easier, he cut the end off...

YIKES!!!!

No, of course, it is going right back in the new system.

So, I either put this cable (full of coax RGBHV etc) back together
or we are out 1200.00.

Ever solder a large cable full of coax to a 25-pin D-Sub?

More fun than a "discussion" with yer wife.

He's one of our best field techs and has saved my butt many times
when I needed something 40 feet in the air pointed just so, and
it did not want to point that way.

Everyone does something stupid now and then. On the last job,
my partner dropped a 2500.00 speaker 30 feet onto concrete.
What a sound! He's never done anythng like that before.
I hope it isn't my turn to screw up now, but it probably is.

I ain't saying a word. Next time we need the extra 10% from
him, he will pay us back many times over.

I think I'd be making the knuckle head that cut off the connector do all the
soldering. I'll bet he is the same guy from the commercial that said, "I
never did work on a transmission before!"

Nope, he is our best field tech. As one of the bosses it is my
job to be gracious when a good employee does something stupid.

I WILL get it back out of him on one job or another...

Mine's got that wonderful coax with the foam dialectric and
the tiny little conductor. Melts if you get near it with the iron
and the center conductor breaks if you flex 2.5 times...

I was almost done and had to start from scratch when one
broke...

grrrr...

I just finished mounting 36 SMD 8 pin chips using a standard soldering
iron... I feel your pain....

You solder Elcos? Yow! I've always used a pinning tool w/ crimp connectors.

drying out my basement after the foot of snow was melted by the 2" of
rain. taking rocks from the rock garden and rebuilding the drive over
the stream where it washed away due to the 3'x24' culvert rotting
away. (it'll have to wait till july to be replaced when the flow is
at a minimum.
