Anyone here use Vegas video editing software? Is it any good for
making a basic, but at least halfway-decent, music video for a
band to upload to Youtube or their myspace page, etc.?

Yes, Vegas can do a great job of making a half way decent music video.
It can even do a great job of making a great music video. :-)

Vegas is a really good NLE and Vegas editors I know that also use Final Cut
and/or Avid prefer Vegas' workflow. Their hurdle is that Vegas isn't widely
accepted in the commercial market, but it competes in capabilities.

It's way more capable than it appears on the surface.

I know of at least one pro editor here in Sydney that uses it and he has
become so popular that he's had to expand to a much bigger location.
He says that it's as powerful as ANY of the big 3 .. (Avid, FCP and Premiere
Pro).

His work is always fantastic, too
