either mec B or 2. sorry , it's been a while since i've done it. but
if you already have one mec out of the selection then only the new one
will appear.
i believe (again it's been too long...and i'm not in the studio to
even check) it's mains are assigned to the first mec's outputs.

If this is all your Paris inventory, then you can't get 24 channels of
i/o. At best, you get 12 = 4 analog and 2 s/pdif per mec.
Options?
Get a 3rd mec and 3 of the if/2 boxes. That'll give you 8 channels per
mec. Of course, that assumes you have a way to get your frontend
signals to 6 s/pdif channels.
If you have something that can convert to adat, then you can get some
adat cards.
Otherwise, you are basically looking at finding 2 of the 8-in cards.
Setting up the patch bay is pretty standard once you get the add-in
cards installed. Paris should recognize them and you just connect to
the mixer.
Monitoring of the secondary cards is automatic thru the primary card.
No need to patch cards B and C to A.

Paul,
I have no idea what you ar talking about. In the first case "at best" With
only one MEC, I am already running 16 inputs and have been for years.
What I am trying to do however is get a minimum of 24 simutanious recording
tracks.
My inventory in total is 3 MECs, 5 EDS1000s, 3 control 16s,3-8 channel input
cards,2 adat litepipe cards,5 G4s, 4 flat panel monitors.
However, all i should need to pull this off is 1 Mac G4 with 3 EDS 1000 cards
in it, 2 MECs-one on EDS card-1 and the other on EDS card 3. In one MEC I
have 2 - 8 channel input cards, and in the other MEC I have a single 8-channel
input card.
Am I correct so far? Now I just ned to know how to configure it and be able
to see both mixers on the screen and be able to record 24 analog inputs at
the same time. I am not interested in running litepipe for this gig.

Whoa, Nelly!
In your original post, you didn't mention having adat and 8-in cards,
so your real question is how to get all the hardware to appear in the
Paris mixer window?
I am a PC user, not a Mac guy, so for me, I have found that using any
more than 1 mec worth of i/o requires enlarging the mixer window to
about full-screen size. Then I can lay out all the components and
spread them out so the traces are clearly delineated. Are you having a
problem changing the size of the mixer window?
In the mixer window, all the Paris inventory shows up in the list on
the righthand side. You may have to scroll down to see everything, but
if it all is hooked up right, it should be listed.
Check out the Paris Reference Manual, Chapter 4, starting on page 31
(or page 61 of the acrobat softcopy).

Paul is correct, but I'd use the three 8 ins if you have them.
I think Paul means the patchbay screen, instead of the mixer screen, you
get there by hitting B.

Rod, I have tried to contact you and some others by way of e-mail and get
"undeliverable"
One thing that is not helping me here and is why I am trying to e-mail some
of you is because I am extremely dyslexic. Typing these posts take me sometimes
3-5 minutes for what takes anyone else 20 seconds. It's appears to me scrambled
and upside down at times. Watching me write out a check is halarious! But
not to me. Sooooo anyhow I really wish I could talk to someone on the phone
and would have this licked in minutes. Then I could quit pestering you guys.
Please attempt to e-mail me and hopefully I can call one of you who are running
2 MECs.

you have to click on mec B's i/o's to activate them like you did on
the first mec. the rest is duplication of the first wiring of it's
i/o's. as far as the adat connections go i believe deej said that one
per mec is all that will work.
