OT: Cubase transcribing features? [message #97516]

I know there's a lot of Cubase knowledge around here, so I thought I'd
ask...

I have a recording of a duo (acoustic guitar and clarinet). This is a mix,
so just a stereo track. I have no way to separate the clarinet from the
guitar.

I need a transcription of the clarinet parts. On paper, you know with a
staff and notes in standard notation.

This is either an exercise in writing out the notes... or using a tool to do
it.

Anyone know if Cubase can do that? This would be a double challenge, because
first, I need to somehow "isolate" the clarinet (i.e. get rid of the guitar)
before proceeding to running a software tool to spit out the transcription.

Any ideas? Am I dreaming in la-la land? I'm sure the second half of my
challenge is possible... just not sure about "erasing" the guitar...

Cubase does convert audio file pitch to midi and therefore transcription
,but not polyphonic.
Celemony melodyne does the same.
I don't think you can do it at this point. maybe when the new melodyne is
released ?that should do it because it breaks down chords into the
individual notes, but you will still have to discern which note is the
guitar and which note is the clarinet.
Id say to use your ears and a pencil and paper at this point.

I seldom bother with pitch to MIDI for transcription; even though Logic
has had this feature for a bout a decade or so, by the time I'm done
futzing with the software I usually could have transcribed it faster.

How long, and how complex, is the clarinet part? The reason I'm asking
is that there are users here, myself included, that I'd wager could
transcribe it for you in very short order if it wasn't a huge time-sink
(like "all the clarinet parts from Fiddler On The Roof"). Can you post
the file somewhere so I can take a listen?

It'a actually a commercially available song called "Rouler sa bosse", off of
Bruce Cockburn's instrumental album titled "Speechless". I tried locating a
source to actually buy the sheet music, but have not had any luck. So since
this is not intended for any commercial usage (just for personal use for
playing as a duet), I figured transcribing would be the easiest. I imagine
the song can be heard on amazon.com, or perhaps on Bruce Cockburn's web
page. But I could also extract to MP3, I'd just need to figure out where to
"host" it...

Hi Alex - Could you tell me where to find -convert audio pitch to midi -
feature in cubase? I can't find it - i have sx 3 and 4- this would be very
handy even if just monophonic . I wasnt able to find any hits on the web or
manual either.
