It's about $300, street, plus CF card(s) and headset. Looks like it'll
handle XLR phantom powered mics if you have adapters to 1/4" TRS.

Not sure if there's an upper limit for CF size.

There have been many discussions about cheap handheld recorders here:

Do a search for the M-audio box and the Zoom H2/H4. There's been some pretty
lively (not always exactly on topic!) discussion. I have a Zoom H2 and love
it.
