This is the moment I've been looking forward to since I started these plugins.
I just finished the DP/Pro hall for PARIS.
I think this one speaks for itself. The best part is the sound. The second
best part is that you can run four of them on one card. I'll never understand
why this didn't come with PARIS in the first place.

Hi Rod,
I guess I just assume everyone knows the history of the effect boxes. The
Dp/4 was an earlier effect box, and the dp/pro was its successor.
It looks to me, and I'm only guessing based on comments in the code, that
when the developers set out to make the dp/pro, they first translated the
dp4 algos to the esp2 chip. Those initial translations were left in the
source code folder.
They then modified the code to make it what we saw in the dp/pro. In the
case of the halls, there massive changes. The Pro version is wider and more
transparent. But, they also removed the chorusing in the pro version, which
gives the dp/4 version slightly nicer last split seconds of tail.
The dp/4 versions sound incredibly nice. The DP4 ran at 16 bit, 40.5 KHz.
Those same algos at 44.1 with 24 bit stereo inputs sound really nice.

Rod, Just in case it wasn't clear, the DP4 was a 16bit box, the DP Pro was

Hi Tom,
I love the DP/4 Hall, but the DP/PRO hall actually is a pretty nice step
up. Having said that, It's good in a mix to use various sound spaces, so
they are both useful. It really depends what you are after, too. The DP/4
Hall sounds more like a real hall, while the DP/Pro hall sounds more transparent
- the sound just gets bigger and wider without necesarily noticing where
the sound is. I just can't believe that Ensoniq didn't release these yearsd
ago. These algos would have given them a huge advantage vs. Pro Tools at
the time. It was just a huge wasted opportunity.
Oh well. They're here now. :)

Ensoniq needed forward marketing thinkers like yourself.
We all know where they ended up.
The pitch shift element is part of what I like about the
DP4 Hall. I'll add a chorus to the DP Pro Hall and cover the
same sound while retaining its transparency.

Hi Guys,
Chuck has offered to send me the mac he used to compile the plugins, but
work has kept him out of the country for weeks at a time. I'm sure when
he's home, his priority is seeing his family. It will happen. It's just
going to be a bit longer.

Hey Mike-
I have a G4 Dual 1.25 that will be available soon. My wife is
migrating her stuff to a new box. Should be done in the next
week. I can meet you in TO to drop it off. I'll also bring a
cheque to help with the MAC side of things...

There was a last generation of dual boot 1.25 gHz dual processor G4's. I
have one of those too. The next generation had a Firewire 800 port and couldn't
boot in OS 9.

Hi Ted,
That is very kind, but I think I'll be ok with my emulator. Chuck has a
mac with a very unusual compiler setup that he said was absolutely necessary
to get the plugins to compile for the Mac. He's been out of the country
working for the last while, and I suspect when he has been home, being with
his family has been the priority.
As soon as I get the Mac, I'll compile the plugins. It will probably take
less than a night (fingers crossed). The alternative is that we can try
an older version of code warrior to see how it goes. I may have better luck
than Chuck did. You never know. If I can't run code warrior in the emulator,
your Mac will be most welcome. :)
