Hey networking gurus!
I need a good supple Cat 6 cable to make patch cords out of for field work.
I have thousands of feet of install cable but it is stiff and does not stand
up well to field use. Do you know of a Cat. 6 cable that is more like a
mic
cable; strong and supple, that will hold up to onsite field use?

Supple would be nice, but rugged for field use is more important.

The key search word you're looking for then is "armored" cable. It's out
there, I usually have my rep at http://www.gocsc.com spec that stuff up. It
is not cheap, but if it's what's needed to get the job done w/o failures,
well....
I have heard from local TV guys that there is also multi pair/multi type
armored available, and there of course is armored fiber (multimode and
single mode) for the cleanest possible data transfers. Camera guys are using
this stuff in the field, right now. Check with Belden? They're usually on
top of this kind of thing, I'd start with them.

From what I can gather, they are "roll up" type cables, not unlike mic
cable.
