What mobo? If you are using the the same as mine, here's my skinny.....
Q9450 CPU OC'ed to 3.2GHz;
Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3 mobo
PNY Quadro graphics card (Nvidia driver);
4G RAM
SSL Duende PCIe
UAD-2 Quad
Magma x 13 PCI > PCI w/ 4 x UAD-1 cards
Magma x 13 PCIe > PCI w/ RME Multiface, RME MADI, and RME AES 32
Cubase 4.5x
The devices/drivers are configured as follows:
PCIe_1: OPEN
PCIe _16_1: PNY Quadro-IRQ 16 & 17
PCIe_2: Pro Tools Branded 13 slot Magma PCI chassis hosting RME Multiface,
MADI and AES32 PCI cards in slots 1, 5 and 7, interfacing the mobo PCIe slot
using a Magma PEHIFX1host card. All cards share IRQ 18
PCIe_3: UAD-2-IRQ 17
PCIe_16_2: Duende PCIe-IRQ 16
PCI_1: Pro Tools Branded 13 slot Magma PCI chassis hosting 4 x UAD-1 cards
in slots 1, 5, 7 and 11-All cards share IRQ 20
PCI_2: OPEN
If you are only using one 13 x slot Magma, you can be relatively certain
that slots 2 and 4 will share an IRQ and it will not be she same IRQ that
is shared by slots 1, 5, 7 and 11.
The onboard LAN shares IRQ 17 with no ill effects. there are no FW devices
on this machine and it is disabled in the BIOS.

Sounds like we have about the same box.
I have the same mobo but mine says GA-EP35-ES3P
When counting slots in the Magma are you going left to right
looking at the front of the chassis? My power supply is in the
right rear corner. The Magma card sits on the far left.
I should think it will work the same as yours. I'll have
to get those long ribbons made for Paris to sit in slots
so far apart. Magma host card can go in PCI 1 on mobo.
I'll have five cards so maybe 1 EDS can
take the other IRQ from slot 4, the other four can share
1, 5, 7, 11. Creamware can sit in the computer on PCI
slot 2. The UAD-2 is installed in PCIe 2 right now.

I think I've got a set of the xtra long ones here that I got custom made
from Morgan a few years ago if you need them.

This will work but will force anything that is interfacing with PCI slot
2 to share with the same IRQ that PCIe_16_1 uses which is your video card.........may
be a problem, maybe not. If you've got a Magma that uses the round SCSI style
cable, I'd strongly recommend that you get the Magma PEHIFX1 host card.

This will probably work. If your Magma has uses the flat cable I think your
4 x bus sharing slots will be 1, 4, 8 and 12. You'll just have to swap them
around until you find what works if you
're using more than 4 cards.

If your Magma is interfacing with the PCI slot #1, this will almost certainly
force your Creamware card to share with the IRQ that your PCIe_16_1 slot
(video card) is sharing (and may also create a scenarion wherein your CW
card is also sharing an IRQ with the EDS card in slot #4 of your Magma)...at
least that was my experience. Whether or not that will be a show stopper,
I don't know. My Duende and my UAD-2 are sharing this IRQ with the video
card slot with no real issues, but they are all PCIe devices. Not sure how
it will work with PCI and PCIe sharing but I have found this mobo to be pretty
forgiving using ACPI.

That's the slot I'm using for my Magma PCIe host card so I can't say.

I'd love to snag those EDS ribbons from you. How many can you
spare and do you also have the clock cables? Tell me what you
need for them and shipping. Any long ADAT cables floating around?
My Magma cable is the flat type so 1, 4, 8 & 12 it seems for me.
If I use PCI slot 2 will that throw the Magma assignments off?
I was thinking that the PCI bus may deal more easily with the Creamware
card if it wasn't in the Magma with 5 EDS guys. The UAD-2 sharing with
video
sounds great if it isn't a problem for you. My video card only uses one IRQ
anyway.

I've got BNC and ADAT cables out the wazoo. Way more than I'll ever use again.

Maybe. It may not create any issues on that particular mobo though. Lots
of available bandwidth. The question would be withether or not you will have
enought bandwidth on the PCI bus itself if the CW and EDS cards are sharing
IRQ.

If you're going with 5 x EDS cards, one of these will end up on a different
IRQ from the other 4. If that IRQ shares with the PCI2 slot, then you may
have a trainwreck. I just don't know what to tell you at this point.

It's going to be a trial and error situation, but I'd bet that you will succeed.
That's a very forgiving mobo. Another option you have would be to buy a second
(newer) Magma PCI chassis and a PCIe host card for it. If you go to EBay,
be doubly sure to inquire as o whether or not it uses the round cable to
connect the host cards. the older model with the flat cable won't accept
a PCIe host interface.
BTW....I was doing some checking and found this..........very rare to see
one of these.

Hey Deej,
I'll call you over the weekend and work through some of this.
I will need about 6 x 6'+ adat cables. I suspect at least
three long sync cables and five of the fatter ribbons.
I don't need WC though.
I'm not really worried about the PCI bus since Paris was designed
to work under those conditions. The Creamware card should
be as isolated from the Paris IRQ trainwreck as possible.
Brian sure had his way with Paris. I should think I'll get it to work.
I'm having no problems with 4 EDS, and a UAD-1 in a 5 slot machine now.
I lucked out. So that's all it takes I guess!
I'm ready to do this. Failure is not an option.
