Help with PARIS [message #102423]

I thought I'd start a new thread to make it easier to find replies.
I tried to boost the gain on a track by clicking gain change under audio
in the editor window. All I get is a save as window with the file name. I
don't see anywhere to boost the gain.

I figured it out.I needed to make a new file name to get to the Db setting.
All set with that now. I still need to work on getting patch cords from amps
to the 442 without mics.

Do your amps have direct outputs? A guitar amp would need some sort of speaker
emulator to sound right. A bass amp w/ line out would work fine. You must
have a mixer of some sort... You can use that to get mic signal into the
442.

The bass amp has a line out but it is the 3 pin type that I have on my mic.
I'll have to get a special patch cord for that. The keyboard/acoustic amp
has a Patch socket on the front that says send/return pre eq,tip=send ring=return
sleeve=ground. When I tried that one it shut down the speaker in the amp
and I'm not sure if it would send a signal to the 442 or not. I want to be

You can probably plug keyboards directly into the 442. I'd experiment with
setting the input for -10dB or +4dB. I think -10dB would be the best choice
for most keyboards. The reason plugging into the jack on the keyboard amp
stopped the sound is that it's probably an insert loop that needs to be completed
to pass sound. YOu can probably get any electronic repair guy to solder
a 1/4" connecter on one end of a mic cable to create the patch cord you need
to connect your bass amp's line out to the 442. Or you could mic the amp.

It's funny, all I needed to do was use a mic cable from the bass amp. But
that's the way the thought proccess works I guess. We recorded some good
drum tracks last night that will come in very handy. I need to go spend some
jack on some short patch cords. It looks like someone spilled a bowl of black
spaghetti behind my rack right now.
Thanks again for the help. I'm starting to get my head trained. The different
windows are starting to mean something...
