Hi all

So I get me Paris rig back, hook it up and then fire it up..so far so good

Click on Paris and immediately get an error code 1/1

so just exactly what is the issue?

Do I need to uninstall paris and start from scratch with a reinstall of the drivers then Paris 3.0 then the studio FX library.

Just want to make sure I'm on the right track

Don

Sorry Don - I'm still coming to grips with the forum settings. As to why your post didn't show up immediately, there's a setting on the forum to give a person moderator permissions (ie cleaning up spam etc) and there's a different setting to "moderate" the forum - which means all posts made to it have to go into a "moderation queue", to be manually approved for posting.

I intended the former and not the latter, and now that I properly understand the relationship between the two modes I've tweaked the settings; posting should now be immediate.

Hi Don,

I'm pretty sure 1/1 means couldn't find hardware. EDS cards each have
a Scherzo driver assigned? Master Mec all wired/plugged in and turned on?
Reseat the EDS cards to be sure they're all firing. Triple check the ribbon
cables.
They can be off by one if you're not down in there looking very closely at
them.
Clock cables Mec to Mec installed? Be very careful while plugging
in the SCSI cables. It's easy to bend a pin and smoke a Mec.
Trust me on that one.

Remove Default Project form the Paris folder to start. It can complicate
the
initial boot.

I'd look at the simplest fix first.

Luck luck luck,
Tom

Hi Tom

Everything checked out and the EDS cards aren't being picked up at all.

By the way this is the end result of Paris crash that led to my computer not
being able to boot - then disconnecting everything, having my GURU look at
the rig get it up and running (solidly) without Paris then me hooking it
back up in my room and immediately getting the Error Code 1/1.

I then called my Guru up and via phone we...

took out both EDS cards and installed just one...didn't get picked up
installed the other one same thing
installed the first one in the second one's slot - nada
did the same with the second one - nada

Than we tried forcing the drivers but no luck.

Funny enough when I got off the phone I turned my computer back on with the
MEC not attached to the EDS card and the card got picked up but we couldn't
install the drivers

So my guru will be over tomorrow and we'll see if we can track down the
problem.

In the meantime any and all ideas are more than welcome

Hey Don,

Sorry to hear of your problems.

Gurus are good.

What was it that brought your system down in the first place?
Maybe you have a cracked mobo (hairline) and the EDS cards
are only intermittently being seen?

Couldn't install the drivers even though it was asking for them?
Could you direct it to them? It still didn't like what it was seeing?
Maybe you don't have the correct drivers?

Good luck,
Tom

Hi Tom

I mispoke...the system went wonky while I was transferring Paris files to a
backup HD, not when I was in Paris. It stopped seeing the USB drive then
just started acting weird until it finally wouldn't boot properly at all.

I didn't check the cards for cracks - will do tomorrow.

I have the XP scherzo drivers from when I converted to XP - maybe they got
corrupted, hell at this point anything is possible but truth is I think my
old MB is slowly dying and this is it's way of saying it's time for an
upgrade.

Hi Don,

I am thinking your mobo might have hairline cracks
in just the traces drawn with solder. No fixing that usually.
It will be hard to see that's for sure.

Think positive, it's usually something simple.

My comp is working great and it was a long time comin'.
Yours will too.

Tom

Well after several attempts to get this beast up and running with Paris it
has been determined that XP is the culprit...so the options are blow out the
system and start from scratch or build a new system and start from scratch

guess what I chose?

hehehe - no brainer

Should have the new pig up and running by this time next week - assuming all
goes according to plan. As if that ever happens

I'd like to thank all who through their $0.02 in it was greatly appreciated.

Don
