I've looked into using Win 10 and it looks like Microsoft has dropped support for my old but majestic CPU.
So I will go with Win 8.1 or stay with Win 7, but I just know that I'll regret being unable to go online if I stick with Win 7. Going for Win 8 gives me until 2023.

Anybody using Windows 8.1 and things running well?

I have been using windows 8.1 since it came out and with Mikes' new drivers it works GREAT !

Many thanks for responding, sounds good.
I'm going to go for Windows 8.1 right away before I hook up the additional drives and install applications. It's the best time to do it.

Yeah I agree about keeping it off the internet, and I will do that for the most part, but I think I will need a few months of access to get the PC fully shaken down. I might want to get Reaper and that Paris file handling gadget so I can put other projects into Paris.

It has been more difficult than I expected to build my own PC (coming from not knowing much about PC building!)
