I really don't know what to do.

I haven't posted here in a while, but I read often (when I have time). I
decided to focus on my studio and get it up to par and more
functional......specifically wanting to sync up with Logic, and integrate
the mix buss of Paris with all the new cool stuff of Logic......and nothing
but troubles.

Sorry for the long post.........ignore it if you wish.

I originally thought it was my old Magma 7 slot that was the issue, but it
is not. Because after giving up on the new PC I built (see the PC problems
below), I tried just the MAC with 2 cards, and the same sound issues.

I am using an old G4 1.25 running OS 9.2.2 running Paris 3.0, and I cannot
get sound to come into, or out of, my second or third MEC. (I have 2 input
cards, one output card, and one ADAT card in each MEC). Even if I only hook
up 2 MEC's, the second one will not put out any audio. I can play back
recorded tracks and get them to come out the master output on any submix,
but none of the extra outputs will work (effect external out, or channel
insert external out........on either the analog outs, or ADAT outs). This
problem was also there when I used my Magma, so I attempted to switch to PC
because my Magma has REALLY noisy fans.

I was hoping someone who is running a multiple card Multiple MEC setup could
shed some light on this......it is driving me crazy. Is this a bug that I
never heard about? These same EDS1000 cards passed audio when hooked up to
the PC (although I had other issues)

--------------On another entirely different note---------------

......I built a PC to try to run 4-5 cards without the Magma, and had nothing
but trouble with unhandled exception errors (usually 7c93426d at location
0048c425, although I had one other number that I didn't write down). I
thought it was my video card because of the IRQ sharing, So I pulled the
EDS1000 card out of the slot that was sharing that IRQ (the BIOS would not
allow me to set it differently than the video card no matter what I
did.....the PCIe video slot followed my manual settings of this slot.....in
addition it was SLOT 4 of 5 that was the issue, not 1 which is next to the
video card PCIe slot....also very weird I thought). To make matters worse
SLOT 1 and 5 would always assign the same IRQ even if I manually set them in
the BIOS as different. I am not sure if this caused the problem, because
frankly I am not willing to only use 3 cards so I never tried this......that
was the whole reason to switch to a PC (in addition to the new
plugs.....that sound great by the way, even the little bit I have
heard........BRAVO!!! Mike A.)

I am running a Gigabyte GA-P35-S3G MB, with a Intel Duo. The video card is a
PCIe GeForce 8400GS Dual head card 512M.

I thought the mother board would be perfect because it had 5 PCI slots (hard
to find these days).....I guess I should have checked here and asked all the
experts that have been down this road (I feel stupid now). I know enough to
be dangerous with PC's, but I am not stupid either, and can handle most
things). I could get the system to fire up and it worked with 5 cards, but
would always act up when I started plugging in effects. If I didn't plug in
effects, it seemed to be fine. I also had a side problem in with the new
effects that Mike made....although I was really excited to get them, my
original compressor would not pass sound, only the new Paris compressor. He
said that should be a problem, so I really don't know what is going on.

Now I think I have more issues than just the compressor plug not working
right. I am open to any and all help.......And I may very well need to find
an old computer that has already been set up to run Paris. I don't need it
to do anything else, so just about anything will be fast enough. Although I
want at least 2 monitors (preferably 3 or 4....that would be just awesome!)

Do I have a bad EDS card maybe??? I have six total and have used as little
as 4 in different combinations with both the PC and MAC.

I refuse to give up.......I WANT MY PARIS.......do I sound like a little
brat? I can't help it.......I can't find ANYTING that comes close to this
sound.....even today with modeling plugs......nothing kicks as much

Am I dreaming......is there any hope for this Gigabyte MB.

Anybody have an old PC that will run at least 4 EDS cards (preferably 5 or
6) with a double head video card?

I fell like a drug addict........I gotta have it man!!!........oh.....and I
am a major control freak, so it is VERY hard to even ask for help......it
took me 3 weeks of trying crap before I gave in.

:-)

-Bradley

PS. I am going to break down and try only 2 or 3 cards in the PC and see
what I can find out.......I'm tired......going to bed......tomorrow is
another day.

Thank for letting me ramble.
