A good drummer friend of mine is going electronic. He's bought a MIDI trigger
kit already, and is now looking through options for software on the PC. What
are the current faves? His original stuff is rock-esque, in the "Alternative
/ Pop" kinda range, but the sounds might get general cover band use also.
Anybody have any new comments about...
(*) BFD
(*) Battery
(*) Easy Drummer - Adictive Drums
(*) Others?
Also, any issues that anybody has had with any of these, especially with
Cubase as a host.
....oh, and any advice on stand alone host apps, given that in a live sense
he probably doesn't need to run a whole DAW if he doesn't need to. I know
BFD will load stand alone...

Check out DFH2 - sounds good, no issues running it with Cubase,
and now comes wiht a stand-alone host, IIRC reading recently.
Nothing amazing or extravagant about it, but just a handful of
some good basic rock-type sounds overall.

Hi Kim,
Here is some info on the new BFD just in :)
We really love BFD , its the central piece in the
Song Writers Workshops we do here in the store.
BFD peaks the Way Cool meter - Bigtime !
And Yes Of course there will be a PARIS Group buy
on BFD and upgrades
The much anticipated BFD2 is now en route from the UK to the US.
Stock will be available to ship to US dealers from 03 DEC 2007.

Hi Kim, I have almost all of them.. But , go to Vsti Drums are
1) XLN Addictive Drums.. Killer (easy) Interface with great sounding kits.
2)Native Instruments Battery 3. Killer Drum app
That can contiunes to grow with your library. The Lib that comes with Battery
is killer in it's own right.
3) Stylus(Orginal) & Stylus RMX.. Again, for the R&B/Dance Techno, Hip Hop..Stylus
is a must..
4) Ez Drummer( Nashville,Latin, Claustrophobic,Vintage Rock). These babys
cover a lot of ground. Sound s great and very EZ interface.

*My take on the others. BDF-Deluxe..Nice, But drums are 'RAW'..If you don;t
knwo how to treat real live recorded drums , then leave BFD alone..However,
if you want to Learn how to get a RAW recorded kit to sound good, then BFD
is your choice..

Bfd 2 looks like a completely new animal compared to1. multiple room mics
for room ambience if so desired, the ability to blend drums etc. from other
mics(controlled bleed)separate tracks for everything ,and 6000 built in
grooves that you can rearrange and alter any way you want.sounds like the
closest thing to "real drums" that ive seen,.and who doesn't tweak drums at
mixdown?

Lamont, I'm with you - I want speedy setup when I use a drum VSTi.
Ideally one of these kits would have options for raw, a set of various
complete kit EQs and also tweakable individual drum EQs. Do any of them
do that?

Hey Bill, yes the XLN Addictive Drums and it's interface that BFD?Toontract
are gunning after has kits ready to roll and can be tweaked to perfection.
Take peak and a listen..:)

BFD has a bunch of preprocessed drums now, plus it can use DFH snaples now
as well.
