I'm about to put together some new PCs for my studio and I'm undecided
between making a fan-vented box for them or making quiet PCs. I've never
done either; I always kept them in closets, but in my current studio
that is an inconvenient option.

One advantage of quiet PCs is that they will be out in the open for
access to the front, back and insides, and they will take up less space.
Building them will be more expensive, but that is a minor consideration.

A box could be used for several generations of PCs, presumably. It would
have to be big enough for at least 2 machines.

DJ, I know you go for an "open matrix" design, or in popular argot,
"going commando". How do you deal with noise?

Any suggestions/advice from those who have used either approach appreciated.
