Hi gang,

My PARIS 2003 XP machine is getting weak. I run 2 internal EDS cards but have 2 additional cards which I'd like to use. My questions are simple.

Magma has a 4 PCI chassis (rack mount) which has it's own PS and I can choose PCI or PCI-e card for the host. The PS has both 3.3 and 5v lines so I think the EDS will be happy.

Question: If I run 4 cards in the chassis and hook it to the Paris comp with the host card:
1) is there any latency different to an internal installation?
2) what do I expect in the IRQ? 1 IRQ for the host card only or 1 for the host and 4 IRQ and scherzo's for the EDS?

Comp question: Since Mike's XP 32-bit multi-core drivers do great and I run all cards via the Magma w/ PCI-e host card in the comp, wouldn't any new Win-7 multi-core computer do just fine? If all cards are external it would seem that the mobo is not a critical issue this way, but I could be wrong.

fyi - I did look at Vitual-Via expansion (I think in Europe, and much cheaper) but didn't see info on the 3.3v and 5v issue or it didn't include a PS at all, so I would expect it to be run via the host card and that didn't seem adaquete for the power hunger EDS's. Did I miss something?

Thanks for helping. Any chimes would be greatly appreciated.
