Hi die hard paris users,

I just want to share a tip.

I was almost crying one hour ago, and now life is great again, i have to claim it on the rooftop !

So, IF

you plan to use paris on a HP pro computer (and it's probably valid on any computer with an intel mobo)

AND

you have a 64 bits windows OS (7 pro here)

AND

of course, you have Mike's 64 bits driver & installer

AND

you get this good old blue screen while starting paris (i have'nt seen this for years !) with this somehow scary message :

"the system has halted ,NMI Parity Check Memory Parity Error"
Mad Mad Confused

THEN,

i suggest you try to modify your bios setup according to the link below

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MVdQD0LP60

it's just about disabaling "PCI SER# GENERATION" in "advanced" ==> "BUS OPTION"

F10
Exit
done !!

Ah and also if you got issue while starting paris, just try to set paris.exe options in "windows XP SP1 compatibilty mode".

eeer, don't ask me why.

Works perfect !

The old PC died, and now i'm ready to roll with a HP 8000 pro i5 (120 euros refurbished waranty, dead silent ! i had two paris computers in 13 years, sort of money saver ! ).

And i still love tracking in paris.

cheers !

a few more things :

- executing paris.exe with XP mode is not that a good idea finally. No option at all, provide it's executed as administrator.

- Mike audet's support is second to none.

- paris is more stable and responsive with a modern computer and mike's paris64 driver.

- paris still sounds good today (i bought some newer stuff, i was ready to ditch this old big blue thing, but, well ... not yet) .. but i assume you already know paris sounds good.

Cheers

Hi Damien.
Very interesting!
I'm on an AMD platform, and I (for some reason) can never start Paris successfully first time after booting computer. (No "blue screen", but the machine just hangs upon launching PARIS). If I leave the machine on for a few minutes prior to launching PARIS it will sometimes work. Otherwise, I do a "ctrl-alt-del" to start task manager, and terminate the process. After doing so, PARIS invariably launches no problem without having to reboot.
I will investigate Your solution when next I fire up my system, and see if this fix could apply to the bios in my AMD quad core machine.
Cheers,
Kim.
