And the PARIS or PT debate is OOOOOLLLLDDDDDActually, Yamaha now owns Steinberg.

Right click the e:\ drive in explorer, then the permissions tab (as long
as the drive is formatted NTFS) add your account with full control, then
remove everyone else.

Here's what i did (along with some others)...
Get a 2nd computer
Put Nuendo on it (don't mess with SX unless you are really strapped for
cash, Nuendo has some "pro" name recognition that SX probably won't ever
have... that's if you care about that).
and get a couple uad-1's... and some urs, and tritone plugs.
get a rme hdsp 9652 (or something with 16 or 24 adat i/o).
for tracking.... plug into paris as you normally would but route the input
to one of your adat outputs that feed nuendo. you will route your nuendo
audio/midi tracks to paris and monitor them through paris... and monitor
your overdub performer or whoever through paris also. you will have no
latency while tracking to nuendo.
for mixing.... you can set up nuendo adat outs to feed paris. set up output
busses in nuendo... drums, bass, vocals, etc... all running into paris. mix
in nuendo with no uad-1 issues and other good plug ins, you can use your
outboard in external inserts now too... when the mix is done... record those
busses in one pass into paris... then do one more pass in paris to bounce to
stereo. ask DJ about dither from 24 to 20 through adat lightpipe...
sometimes you might want to do that on nuendo's outputs if the material
calls for super, super smooth.
sounds like a lot but its not really.
i think its a good transition step to moving away from Paris someday...
keeps the familiar and gets you used to another app... while still
preserving all/alot of the Paris sound. maybe someday something will come
out that allows you to get the same sonic result with a computer as Paris
does (summing box, neve sidecar w/summing, ssl sidecar w/summing)... then
your ready to move to it.
