hi dimitrios-
the magma pcmcia cardbus model absolutely works with paris! i've had mine for several years. your laptop needs to be able to support cardbus, though. my magma absolutely, and easily holds a full-sized mother/daughter EDS 1000 card, plus it has one other full-sized pci slot, you can fit some other type of card in (maybe another sound card, not paris?). i don't believe the unit will hold two full-sized eds1000 cards. just not quite enough room in there for THAT. it's pretty tight in there, height-wise, and the paris mother/daughter card will take up most of the room- but some other type of full- sized pci card should fit in there, though it may be a real tight or close fit, depending on what type of card you put in there. length-wise, there's no problem at all. there is also a third pci slot in there, for a scsi card, but you can't fit just any scsi card in there. you'd have to buy a proprietary card, made to just fit inside the magma. forget the name and manufacturer of it, and where to buy it, but i remember it cost about a couple
hundred dollars--- the included power supply uses about 90 watts (not too bad), and it's kinda annoyingly loud. maybe it's the fans that are loud? (2 other seperate fans in there, on the front of the unit, beside the fan in the power supply). maybe both the fans and the power supply together, form a very annoying "signature"? in any case, you'll definitely want to put the magma someplace isolated, to cut down on this--- maybe it's just me, or my particular unit?--- in any case, be a little forewarned about this--- the pcmcia card itself, the included connecting cable, and the connector on the unit itself, all super solid. never had any trouble at all, with bad connections, or anything else, and the unit just works, period. there is also room inside for two full-size hard drives!- but you'll need to make that second pci card some kind of ata or sata card, in order to make them work. think i paid something like $1,000.00 for the magma, brand new, several years ago. paris DEFINITELY works with it, no problem--- VERY GOOD little number, for getting paris on your laptop!- except for the annoying hum signature of the power supply/fans--- solid case. quality construction and materials used, through and through. as i recall, works beginning with win.98 se, and up. no special drivers needed, if i remember correctly--- the os has the drivers, and will automatically recognize the magma--- hope this helps.

I haven't tried it with the laptop adapter, but I've been having fantastic results with the Virtua Via chassis under windows 7 with the PCIe card. I did some guitar tracking while PARIS played back 46 tracks with no hick-ups.
I also really like that I can just not turn on the virtua via box when I need to use the PC for something else. Putting less wear on the EDS cards is good.
