Hehe, ok, I'll give you the low down on how to taste it. Indeed I may be
willing to send some to anybody interested, but don't expect to love it first
bite. That said, to have it as we like it:
(*) Fresh bakery bread or toast - HOT. No half stale bread, cold toast or
supermarket loaves. They can be ok, but they'll never compare to fresh bread
or hot toast.
(*) Note that vegemite is a spread you have when you're having nothing on
your bread. It's like you put butter on. Then treat vegemite as like a herb
or spice which just needs a touch. Apply it like you might apply a medium
hotness chilli paste. You can always put more on.
(*) Vegemite works ok if you hardly have any at all. You can just have fresh
bread and (preferably REAL) butter, and then just the smallest scrape of
vegemite on a piece of bread. Once you get used to it you learn how much
you like, but you're far safer to put less than more.
A lot of Australians seem to agree that if you want to really appreciate
a piece of freshly baked bread, you have to have it either on it's own, with
just butter, or with just butter and vegemite. When you spread Vegmite it
shouldn't cover the toast. There should be scrapings of it with gaps in between.
And no thickness to it. Maybe 1/16th inch of vegemite just here and there
on the toast/bread.
From a guy who's 35 and eats vegemite several times a week, while I'm sure
I wouldn't have reacted like the guy in the video, I saw that piece of toast
and with no butter and that massive amount of vegemite I don't think I would
have eaten it either. ;o)

Why not just salt your bread? Sounds like dyed, salted, yeast to me (and
mineral salt to boot... yikes).
And since butter already has salt in it, and bread has yeast, and dye is
usually to
keep you from hurling at the sight of the original color....that leaves the
final question... why? ;-)
I think I'll stick to peanut butter, jam, cheese, or honey.

Well bed with salted butter tastes pretty good, but Vegemite doesn't taste
like just salt.
So I guess you won't be asking me to ship you some then? ;o)

But seriously, if anybody hasn't tried Vegemite and is interested, why not?
Email me. If we get too many I may have to ask for donations, but next time
I go shopping I could probably ship 20 off in half an hour, so I'm up for
it. :o) If people posted back with pics it could be quite a hoot. ;o)
You'd have to eat it in the studio for the pic though, I guess. ;o)

Thanks guys! I'm starting to wonder if I was aussie in another life or
something. Everything about this vegemite deal sounds like stuff I already
love, including the sharp cheddar. I can't believe I've waited this late in
life to investigate it for myself.
Any preference for shredded or slices?
