Hi all,

I just wanted to confirm that I've got Paris running on my Mac Pro with
the virtuavia expansion chassis running XP. This is a 4 card/4 mec setup
with multiple adat cards as well as analog cards in each mec.

I have MTC sending and receiving to a second mac pro running PTHD with
Pro Tools 8, (2 Lynx Auroras and 2 Digi 192 digital i/o's) with 32
channels of adat piping from PT to Paris, then 2 channels of spdif back
from Paris to Pro Tools for mixdown. All the mecs and digi interfaces
are clocked from a Lucid GenX 192. Sync seems to work ok with either PT
or Paris as master, but I have no way of testing adat sync since the PT
interfaces don't have it.

Thanks to Mike for his assistance over the weekend. The new drivers work
great!

Cheers,

TC

I have to say also that it was a really painless setup with Mike's
drivers. Just install and go. I had some struggles with beta versions,
but the release version works perfect here.

Kudos to Mike!

Cheers,

TC

Great! Do you run XP with bootcamp, or do you emulate it in OS X?

Bootcamp here, XP on it's own internal drive.

Cheers,

TC

TC,
why doesn´t it work when you plug the EDS directly on the mainboard of the
Mac?
(I heard anywhere that the EDS is PCI and the Mac supports only PCI express,
or so... is that true?)

Hi Micha,

That's correct. I use a virtuavia 4 slot Pci -> Pcie expansion chassis.

Virtuavia Pcie host card in the mac pro, 4 eds cards in the chassis.

Cheers,

TC

Hey TC! Have you had any trouble with the power supply on the virtuavia?
Some people here thought the power supply was too small.

That's the one.. I put it in a rackmount ATX case with a beefy power
supply and a speed switchable fan. It runs very quiet.

Cheers,

TC

Hi James,

I got the version Micha referenced above and put it in an atx case with
a 500W power supply.

I wouldn't have trusted that other little box that they have. Best thing
is to just get the host card/board and use your own case/psu.

Cheers,

TC
