HI David,

The DP works fairly well. You do want to make sure you are using the most current BIOs.
This board has has allot of compatibility issues sense it came out but they seem to mostly be worked out now.
Just in time for that chip set to be discontinued but that's Intel for you.

Works better with Vista than with XP from my experience.

Don't be fooled the 3 PCI slot part. The 3rd slot hardly works with anything sens they tied almost all the on board PCI stuff to it.

Chris

Hmmm.. so, if I am using a Magma in the standard PCI slot anyway, would
the DQ board be a better bet? I can always disable the video and use a
video card.

Thanks,

David.

HI David,

Never used the DQ board so don't know how if the PCI slot is sharing with a bunch of stuff or not.
I would download the manual and make sure the on board video can be disabled. Some M-ATX board you can't.

Will probably be worth the extra $50 or so to get the full size board so you have room to move stuff around slot and IRQ wise.

Hi Chris,

Sorry to be a pain... What Intel board would you recommend... we can get
the Intel models at wholesale. If the Can $ was doing better I would
order a system from you! :-(

Many thanks...

David.

Hi David,

The only boards from them We found usable and reliable out of the box have been the DP35 we have discussed and the D5400XS Xeon board.
We have had good luck with the nForce 750 and 780 boards as well as some of the P45 chip set boards.
Are you upgrading the guts of another system our building one from the ground up?

Chris

Hi Chris,

I'm upgrading an existing box... a 4U rackmount.

I appreciate the advice. Thanks!

David.

Hi David,
Well unless the boxes guts are really old we can easily just do a parts upgrade.
We do that all the time for our customers.
Kinda funny upgrading a dual/dual core Opteron to a single quad core Intel. :)
