I haven’t been a huge fan myself. I was an early fan of Child (later renamed
Steel Mill). Growing up in NJ and a member of several NJ shore bands myself,
I was around during the early days and sat in on a few early rehearsals in
the chicken coops in Freehold NJ. One of my bands warmed up for Bruce at
the Café Wah in Greenwich Village around 1970.
Most of my memories of that period are somewhat blurred by the many inappropriate
activities of the time, but I do remember music being fun.
The new record and the PBS concert are not typical Springsteen. This music
(The Seeger Sessions) is a mix of folk, folk-rock, Cajun/Zydeco, New Orleans
Jazz, Gospel, etc. This music touched me on many levels. I hope to see it
live.

I don't think one need be a fan to be in awe of his gift, and his band. I'm
not a fan at all, but I cannot but be blown away by the power of the whole
thing.
I don't think personal taste is always of much use in recognizing genius.
Taste is taste, but some things transcend taste.
