Hey Mark... cool indeed.
I'd cast my vote on the font for either a sans-serif font at that size or,
if you must have a serif font, bump up the size a bit.

I thought the Limbo thang was somewhat amusing, but it in order
for most people to be able to accept it as an actual punch line,
it should be on the third beat, and then you need to go extreme
with it... example:

Q: HOW DO I PAY?
A: SIMPLE... PAYPAL IS THE EASIEST WAY. A PAYPAL ACCOUNT IS NOT
REQUIRED; THEY CAN ACCEPT YOUR CREDIT CARD PAYMENT REGARDLESS
OF WHETHER YOU ALREADY HAVE A PAYPAL ACCCOUNT OR NOT.

Q: ARE THERE ANY OTHER WAYS TO PAY?
A: YES, MONEY ORDERS, WIRE TRANSFERS, OR CASHIERS' CHECKS MAY
ALSO BE ACCEPTABLE IN MANY CIRCUMSTANCES - PLEASE CONTACT US FOR
DETAILS.

Q: DO YOU LIMBO?
A: NOT USUALLY, BUT FOR FOR AN EXORBITANTLY HIGH FEE, WE MIGHT
BE PERSUADED.

See how that works?

:D

Gawd Neil... you just proved some folks can "tell" a joke and some people
can't. Hilarious when you tell it.

Hey Mark
Just my humble thoughts, offered in a good and respectfull spirit:
-I really like the background color choice. It can be kind of challenging,
actually, to pick one that looks something other than regular old white,
and shows off text and images well.
-I'm not a fan of flash intro pages, so I appreciate the option to skip it.
Nevertheless, I like how you've kept it simple and engaging. Asking a question
actually kept my interest.
-You might consider making the (great) information you provided on your "about"
page the body of your "home" page.
-The only other thing I would offer would be to consider using some sort
of imbedded audio streaming device. I've been looking at the "wimpy" player.
The load times are quick. Your examples are first rate, really great stuff.
I want to be able to get to it quickly. Quicktime works fine on my computer
at the office -fast broadband connection. But at home, I'm down to half
that speed, and notice that imbedded players work much faster.
Hope this isn't too long winded. Again, just my respectfull two pieces
of quasi-copper. Mike R.

Beautiful comments Mike... exactly what I was looking for and half
expecting. Confirmed a few things for me, actually.

Anybody else got some negs on this thing, would really really appreciate.

What inspired that pricing model ("per second of music") and are you
married to it conceptually? I'm asking because it's an unfamiliar
enough pricing model to me as an employer of musicians that my first
question was "how would I estimate a budget based on that unless I
wanted to plan the parts out pretty thoroughly in advance?".

Sorry, just got around to looking at this . . . but here's my thoughts:

-I myself like the Flash intro, but it could move along slightly faster I
think. Also, we shouldn't have to "skip intro" after the intro has finished
running. If we sit and watch the groovy flaming intro all the way through,
it should automatically go to the home page right after.

-I think you could combine the "about" and "services" pages with a different
layout.

-The "What we don't do" part . . . so this is not a one-man-does-it-all
(you) operation? I think if I was a potential customer I'd want to know if
you'll use different players with specialized skills, or just your own
multi-talented self.

-Under "How It Works . . . 6. You like them and pay for them." -- What if,
hypothetically, they don't like them? Do you repeat steps 3-5 until they
do?

-On the "clips" page, "rhythm" has too many Ys in the heading.

-For the clips, I might suggest using the ".m3u" format, so the clips stream
without downloading first. Not that what I heard wasn't worth waiting for .
.. . :-)

-Probably just me, but I think underlined links are kind of ugly in general.
If you use Flash text, they don't need underlining, you can have rollover
effects, plus you don't need to worry about font conflicts between
computers.

-And speaking of fonts, overall I think it's too much text, not enough
images. That font is kind of textbook looking . . . brings back painful
memories. :-) You could probably find something easier on the eyes, and
maybe even vary the color here and there.

Great idea. Hope it pays off for you. I'm revamping my band website which
will include adding a links page, which I'll be happy to put you on when
you're ready.
