OT. Exporting from Cubase SX3 / Nuendo 3 [message #90317]

Guys, I'm on the receiving end of an SX3/Nuendo production that the artist
has pulled from another producers hands. Was originally told this was a PT
project but it isn't. I've got the drive and it's SX and Nuendo stuff.
Previous prodicer says tracks are in edited/punched state, lots of cuts,
slips, etc.

Q1. Can I open N3 files in N1 and render to wav.

Q2. If yes on Q1, without forced SRC?

Q3. Dispencing with Q1, 2 above, what's the minimum I need in order to
simply export audio from or N3?

Sorry, no - N1/N2 can't open N3 files.

Nuendo 3. Cubase 4 should open a N3 project as well.

Hi,

Dedric/W.
If you save a file in C4 you can't open in N3. Also if there were any N3
specific functions used in the project it may give him problems.

W.-
Cubase SX3, Nuendo 3, Cubase 4and Nuendo 4 can all deal with broad cast
wave and OMF 1 and 2. So as long as the person with the PT or Nuendo
system gives you a project in OMF 1 or 2 then you can open it in Nuendo
with very little trouble.
If the project isn't too complicated, i.e., lots of overdubs and edits
then broad cat wave file will be fine also.

Thsi program can be handy to have if you are getting stuff from
different system allot.

Hi Chris - yes on C4 to N3 (won't work, either directly or via track
archive), but N3 to C4 is usually fine.

I never had a lot of luck going into Paris with OMF (Mark is moving Nuendo
files to Paris),
which is why I didn't suggest it.

Of course if you need conversion from EDL to OMF/AAF, etc EDL Convert works
great,
but Paris doesn't support more than basic OMF 1.0 file, iirc.

Okay, so I've got N3 and the .CPR's open just fine. What is the process for
rendering out to wavs without altering the SR, dynamics, i.e., as you would
perform render selction to disk without plugs n PARIS and where do these go
if anywhere in N3? Reading through the manual, it doesn't just jump right
out there and the options, they are many.

FYI, looks like the guy went 48k at 24 bit for all of this stuff.

Bypass any plugins or effects sends (in the mixer, there will be blue icons
on any channel with plugins or sends - clicking those to yellow will
bypass), null your fader gain (if desired - ctrl-click), set the range you
want to export (I don't know if this is a default key command, but I have
"p" defined to set the range over the selected object), solo each track, and
select File - Export - Audio Mixdown.
