Hmmmm... ok, what about this, then:
Send whichever channels you want to split outputs for to a
stereo group... send that group out to two of your analog
outs... then do a y-split on each of those... then create two
new stereo tracks (4 channels total) in direct monitoring mode.
Then, send one stereo pair straight to the main buss, and the
other stereo pair can be processed with a plugin & sent to the
main buss, OR instead of or in addition to that, to a new group
or direct outs for whatever processing you want to do
externally.
Would that work for the scenario you're trying to achieve?
