That's probably the guys at ID. I know an XP convertor was ported at some
point, name escapes on who though. You might also hit up Chuck Duffy on that
question, or Matt Craig if anyone has been able to locate him.

For real? So you'd be able to open up Paris projects in
Reaper? That would be fantastic.

that would TOTALLY rock IMO. I still have/use/love paris, but everything
cometh to an end eventually. Options are good.

They're going to give it a try but I think it's a lost cause...PAF's on the
otherhand look promising...possibly time stamped too

How can they be time stamped if Paris does not support broadcast .wav?

I was under the impression Paris had some sort of time stamp to allow for
positioning of tracks in the editor window. Am I wrong here...if so
nevermind

Hmmmm.......perhaps within the context of a .ppj, but I sorta' doubt this
would apply to a .paf that was not incorporated into a .ppj. If Reaper
cannot import/open .ppj's, I think you're going to have *issues* with this.

I remember EP used to rant a bit about how PAF is really just a 'pure' wav
format with a different header. I'd think this should not be hard to deal
with at all.. .PPJ on the other hand might be a pitfall of snakes.

My guess, and only is a guess, would be that the time stamping is coming
from the PPJ itself. To support this theory, we can take a PAF file in one
project, and it knows where it should be because it orginated or was
imported to that project, right? So, open this PAF in another PPJ that does
not 'know' this file, and it will place it where you stuff it, or at the
beginning of the track if you use the time locked tool.
That's my theory, anyway.

Don't you all think that the Reapers GUI is a little "toytown", after all
the sophistication that we're all used to in DAWS these days?

Wavelab handled them alright, although I don't know whether V6 will accept
them.

As I said earlier Cujo, why would you want to use such a basic looking
interface instead of the Paris masterpiece?

I have a feeling that Mr. Wavelab, being French and all, may always have a
soft spot for an app called Paris.

Maybe 'cause it's free and it has plugin delay comensation?.......I
dunno.......it would be nice to be able to use an app with the Paris
hardware that had PDC. Since the 56 bit Paris summing bus has to be a result
of the onboard DSP, if another app could take advantage of this, it *might*
be able to achieve some of the Paris mix bus
mojo..........maybe..........maybe not.

I agree though that the Reaper GUI is a bit crude by Paris standards.

Yeah the PDC is my main concern, that and VST on auxes. I do so want the
EMt 140 and SIR to show up there!

I've got VST plugins availalbe on 8 x Paris auxes here but it involves some
mighty convoluted digital routing. It's nice to have it though. With the
exception of the PSP Lexicon PCM 42 plugin, I'm pretty much just using
external hardware and UAD-1 plugins in my mixes these days and having these
available to any Paris track (due to said convoluted bussing system) is
mighty nice.
