Aww.. The compitition in pricing begins after Apple's Logic Studio $499.00
throws down the $$ gauntlet..
True story: I went to our Local Apple store to get a look at Logic Studio..
They had 1 box left, and the day was far from over.!!
They had already sold out Back 2 back units of their new iTouch devices!!
And Cthe Christmas rush has not happend...Yikes!!
Lastly, the store (Friday afternoon) was flooded with customers. Yikes..

Still, that's a very good price for Cubase 4. Steiny had better get up off
thieir collective hineys and get the quadcore scaling issue resolved PDQ.
Now that Windows has become just as big a proprietary nightmare as Mac and
the system prices are becoming somewhat competitive, as far as I'm
concerned, they are equally evil, so when I decide to upgrade again, I'm
going to go with the demonic DAW that will afford me the most functionality
with the least amount of grief. but I'm about a year away from doing
something on a grand scale. The way I see it, going the PC/Vista route these
days would involve about the same amount of expense as the Mac and the Mac
OS with Logic looks like a home run due to the aility of the app o scale to
quad core CPU's and a full RAM load. I'm pretty happy with my 2 x PC's
running Opteron 185's and Cubase systemlinked with RME hardware right now.
It's starting to feel like a pretty comfortable system and really never
crashes. The clocking on the RME stuff is quite amazing and the converters
sound good.....but the audio hardware is all PCI, so my next system is gonna
be an expensive one because I'll have to upgrade so much hardware.

Hey DJ,
If it's not broke.. My PC DAWS are wonderful as well..I'll add a PC_X sata
card, and continue to update my recording drives..2008, 4 1terabytes drives..That's
enough of an upgrade for those machines, and keep down the headache of upgrading.
As for the Mac, I have no choice but to get the Logic Studio suite. BUT,
Cubase SX is loaded (via) XP Pro ..So, we'll see..
