Thanks for the in put AA and DC.

What about A G3? This is the format that I ran Paris on when it was my primary
system but I never expanded past 1 EDS card and on 8 cahnnel input card.
I still have the G3, should I saty on this platform or try to go to PC?

I mean, can anyone tell me if a G3 will run 3 EDS 1000 Cards oaky?

Thanks,
Micahel

I use a blue and white G3, but it is limited to 2 cards.

Here's why:

The boot drive in those is pretty primitive and there are no
drives that will drop in to replace it because of the issue with
transfer speed in that computer. Basically, the computer has
a max transfer speed from the drive (ATA 66 I think) and if you
put a modern drive in there, the computer sets the drive to
"max output speed" on boot and then the computer cannot
address the drive any more. grrrrr...

A Sonnet host card solve the problem

http://www.sonnettech.com/

but takes up a card slot. So you are limited to 2 EDS cards.
Even the G4's (and some will boot OS9 and some will not)
run a lot better with a host card and and a modern drive.

Can you live with 2 cards?

I have not tried a Magma with a G3 but that could be another
solution.

best

BTW, if a Magma works, I would still use a host card adapter and
a modern drive or two for boot and backup in the G3.

They may have an SATA host card for G3s over at Sonnet.

Also, blue and white G3's are cheap. I got one for my kid on ebay for 230.00

You might as well try the G3, however, I would get a G4 AGP model. You can
find them on ebay or craig's list for under $100.00. You can upgrade the
processor for around $175.00 if you want. For information and specifications
go to apple-history.com, on the right side of the page are all the different
models.
