So, I have a live gig coming up where I might need more than the 16 in
my main mobile MEC.
I also only have one EDS card in the mobile rig at the moment.
My options are to pull the EDS from my studio rig and cable it up to
the mobile EDS, and put the 442 in the rack above the MEC. That would
give me another 4 tracks, plus 2 if I also use the IF-2.
Or, is that asking for a headache? I've got a spare MEC, but it won't
fit in the SKB box I have at the moment, so it would have to sit on
top. But that would also give me another 4 (or 6 with the IF-2).
Will the EDS+MEC/EDS+442 combo play nice, or is the 442 really an
antisocial bastard who only likes to play by itself?
As soon as we make a little money on these things, I'm picking up a
second EDS and a pair of 8-in cards for the second MEC.
Of course, that will also require a second EDS and second MEC for the
rig at home....
Ahhhh. Gear fever is starting to settle in....
Thanks.

I've been running an MEC and a 442 for, umm, a good couple of years at least
with no trouble...
....well, there's been trouble, but not related to those two pieces of hardware.
A 442 is basically just a cut down MEC. I don't think a Paris system really
cares that it's not a full one. You'll need to patch the word clock out from
whichever interface is on the master EDS into the second interface, but other
than that it should be sweet!
Cheers,
Kim.

Paul,
During all my problems with my system the 442 was the=20
only hardware that kept working. No power needed either.
You'll want a healthy power supply in your comp to help it out.

Hey Paul,
Ya and match the lengths of each cable too.
Make an extra one or two just in case you get another
Mec or one goes bad.

Definitely 75 Ohm. Use GOOD quality cables of the shortest=20
length possible.

I've never used WC before - there is an "insie" and an "outsie" on both the
MEC and the 442. Do I just connect MECout to 442in or do I connect both
ways?
