My next mix setup? [message #74451]

The next step for Gene is to experiment with is passive analog mixing.
I am still searching for the best way to integrate the �Best of Paris� sound
with high samplerate recordings without suffering the collapse of the sound
field.
Next up is building a passive mixing array followed by my GTQ2 pre and Portico
Compressor/Limiter.

This may be a few weeks off, but I have high hopes that this will help close
the gap between what I hear in my head and what I get.

The new Korg MR-1000 1-bit recorder is the likely 2-track but its not available
yet.

I�m also going to take a look at the new Fairlight system.

I will post about it as things progress.

I know, I know � I all winds up as MP3 anyway.

Hey Gene! Have you considered the Folcrom Passive summing buss? I think
it's street price is around $700.00 to $800.00. A lot of people like it.
Maybe you could try one out.

I think I�m gonna build it. I have access to a Fluke 187, so I will probably
use esoteric resisters and hand match to crazy tolerances. I�ll probably
build it on a shield enclosed patch bay. It aint rocket science.

When I was young I enjoyed sitting in my parents musty basement sucking up
solder fumes, but less so today. If anyone should have lead poising and brain
damage, it�s me.
Today I keep my iron locked up most of the time.
But I think I can handle ONE summing box.

I was about to say the same thing -- not a good sign at all... Might
be time for Gene to step away from the computer and walk around
