Hello guys and gals,

The current XP paf/wav converter does 24 to 24 bit mono files and 16 or 24 bit stereo file conversions both ways. The older Win98 converter (if I remember correctly) also did 16 to 16 bit mono file conversions.

I tried the XP version on a 16 bit mono file conversion and got screaming noise. Is their an XP app that'll convert 16 bit mono wave to paf?

Thanks,
Wayne

Hi Wayne - I just started this thread on PAF convertors over here:

Was the file that gave you noise a Mac-generated 24-bit PAF, by any chance?

If all you need is PAF/WAV conversion, you could always download Reaper on the 30-day trial ($50 after that) for the PAF conversion. Some of the other apps have trial periods too.

Well folks, it looks like Wavelab 3.0 has a "save as" function on the file menu for Ensoniq Paris *.paf file. I never checked. Who would have thought?

Yeah, I use an old Wavelab version, mostly just for stereo files. All I use it for is to add or subtract a little gain (overall levels) so that the songs on a CD balance better. Everything else is done in Paris.

Since I'm out of town for a week, I won't be able to check the file out in Paris til then.

When I check the properties on the 16 bit mono wave file it shows 16 bit, 44K, mono, PCM.

When I check the properties on the 16 bit mono paf file the page is blank.

The paf file size is very close to the wave file size. This is normal. Paf files are usually just a little bit bigger.

Anyhow, I though I just let you folks know.

Wayne
