If I'm reading you right, methinks the easiest way to do this is
not with Totalmix, but by creating a group channel (or series
of group channels) in Cubase, then selecting THOSE to go out
through the digi outs. For example:
Kick, snare, hats etc = get sent to a "drum" group = which
gets output through the digi outs
Guitar tracks A, B, C, etc = get sent through a "guitar" group,
whihc then gets sent out through the same digi outs as the drum
group, but having them on spearate groups means you can control
the relative levels easier, as opposed to having to use
individual channels.
And so on.
Remember, you need to activate different outputs in your "VST
Connections" submenu.
then, route the ADAT inputs
>of the Multiface (which are receiving the return signal from the Paris ADAT
>outs) to the Multiface analog outputs
This i'm not sure about - i'd have to check further.
Also, I would like to be able to track hi rez sessions to
>Cubase and I'm clueless about how to set up a cue mix for
multiple I/O so as to interface it with my Furman HDS-16.
Using the grouping thing that I mentioned above, you can also
send individual groups to different outputs on the Multiface -
(drums to output #'s 1 & 2, guitars to 3 & 4, bass to 5,
cowbell to #6, etc.) then you can interface those with your
Furman pretty easily, I would think.
I don't know if you're going to be able to do all this at once,
though (groups being selected for stereo digi & analog outs at
the same time isn't possible, to my knowledge, but maybe that's
where Totalmix can enter the equation). If you're content to
have the cans in mono, I believe you can create a VST Output
buss (again in: "VST Connections") wherein you'd have the left
side sent to Analog Output #1 and the right side sent to ADAT
out #2, for example, and then pan them center externally. Not
sure if that's what you want or if that even makes sense to do
it that way.

Thanks Neil,
I'm going to be out in the boonies all morning. I'll try to get my head
around this later today. I have lost your # I think. If you're up for a call
this afternoon/evening, send me your # in a PM at animix@animas.net and let
me know the best time to call.

Hey DJ - In Totalmix, click submix mode; then select the channel destination
selection (bottom of any channel) to be the digital outputs of the Multiface
you want to route to the ADAT - you'll have to do one pair of ADAT outs at a
time. Set the Totalmix fader levels on the analog input (top row, 1-2, 3-4,
5-6, 7-8, etc) channels for those inputs to whatever level you want to send
to those digital outs (ctrl-click to set to nominal/0). You probably won't
have any other faders up for that submix destination. Repeat for each
output/submix you want to send that input to (or any other input).
Repeat this with the Analog outputs (AN1-2 I think would be the analog outs
1 and 2), as the destination in submix mode - now you can set levels for any
input, or ASIO channel to that output. Bring up the fader levels for the
digital inputs you want to send. Click off submix mode when you are done so
you don't change these (also store it to a preset).
Hopefully that helps and isn't more confusing.

Dedric

Hey Chris!!!...........thanks.I have tried to complicate this to the point
of making it difficult and no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to
misunderstand it.

Thanks Dedric. I just got in and I'm fried so I'll give it a go tomorrow.
Colorado catches me off guard sometimes. It was about 97 degrees here
today........humidity around 10% with light to moderate winds. It didn't
really feel hot to me at all after living in Austin (80%+ humidity and 90+
degrees) I didn't think about it much. I was out hiking some ridgelines and
canyons scouting a route for a pipeline and I forgot to take any water
along. After about an hour and a half I suddenly realized how far I had
wandered from my truck (and my water) and I also realized how dry I was and
how dizzy and weak I was starting to feel. that wind just sucked the
moisture right out of me......kicked my butt. I've probably had about half
gallon of water over the last hour or so. I doubt I'll even pee
tonight........OK, sorry, too much info.

Sounds like a close call - a bit hot to be hiking ridgelines for that long
no doubt. Glad you made it back safely.
The climate here does me the same way - I don't think about it like I should
- it's deceiving. I'll often go a whole day in the studio without drinking
anything, then go trail running... and forget to take my water bottle in the
car to the trailhead...then wonder why I feel weird.
I guess Camelbak's slogan hasn't really sunk in with me yet: "Hydrate or
die". Too subtle perhaps.

Dedric
