First off, thanks to Deej, Aaron, Gene, et al.
Working from the ground up, I have established this:
1. With 3 MECs in a 4-card system, external clcok, with no SPDIF devices
clocked thru Paris, I get a perfect system upon starting Paris and opening a
project. However, if I close the project and try to reopen it or another
project, things get squirrely, either digital distortion on playback or my
2nd submix not playing at all.
2. With two Kurzweil boxes patched in (and clocked) via SPDIF, things are
squirrely from the get-go. Sometimes it works perfectly, sometimes not. When
it works, it seems to be after intial start-up of Paris only; once again,
re-opening a project is sketchy as hell, with a few exceptions.
3. When I patch the Kurzweil boxes thru a Digipatch digital patchbay, it's
the same as scenario "2", only with even fewer instances of success.
I have tried connecting the 3rd MEC to card 4 instead of card 3, but that
seems to have no effect.
I have no BNC terminator plugs on the MECs, and plan to order those
tomorrow. I have some small hope that these will solve some of my troubles?
Anybody have any further suggestions?
Jimmy

Actually, having the 3rd MEC plugged into the 4th EDS card seems to, in
fact, increase the likelihood of everything working....by a little bit,
anyway....

Jimmy,
I think it is a fact that you always want a MEC plugged into your
last EDS card unless you only have one. I find this to be true
even without an external clock.

Do this:
In your paris.cfg file, add the following line:
UseHouseSync=1
Now reboot your computer and double click on the Paris .exe in the EMU
folder insidfe your program files directory.
When Paris launches, set the sync source to Word Clock and set the sample
rate to 48KHz.
Save this in the EMU folder under the name "default project.ppj" (no
quotes). Now, before you close it, save it again to your desktop under the
exact same name.
Close the project and turn off your computer. Now turn off everything else
that is connected with Paris digitally, including the MECs.
Now do the following:
1. turn on your Kurzweil units (and any other processor that is interfacing
digitally with Paris)
2. set your WC module to 44.1, turn it on and let it initialize
3. turn on your MECs
4. boot your computer
5. launch Paris from the default project.ppj on your desktop
Once the 48KHz default project is open, go to one of your 44.1KHz projects
and open it. You should be good to go.
This works flawlessly for me.
Good luck.
Deej
