Does anyone know how many watts each EDS card uses? I found an affordable MOBO that will take an i7 quad core with 6 PCI slots, but some one reported that it only supplies 10 watts to all 6 PCI slots. Is that enough wattage?

Not sure but the real problem will be the PCI native chipset.
If it's too new a MB the PCI chipset will be sharing with the PCIe chipset and that is a nightmare for PARIS and older PT HD cards.
The best new MB that works with the older PCI cards is....

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813153 216&Tpk=NAF92-Q67

This is the only new MB I will recommend and that I know works for PARIS and PT HD PCI cards.

Hmmm - this MB looks promising. I've got a bunch of cards here and a Magma expansion chassis, but I've been a bit reluctant to dive in for fear yet another "learning curve"...

Not to mention my ASUS P6Te has never shut down properly (it's a hardware problem on the board itself, not a BIOS setting...)

Thanks for the heads up.

Ted

The PCI spec states that the maximum wattage that a card can draw is 25 watts, and the EDS cards draw close to this amount.

If the board can only deliver 10 watts to the PCI slots, then it isn't PCI compliant, and it will not work.

Go for the Virtua Via chassis, and forget about motherboard PCI.

All the best!

Mike
