Hi,
I am surprised that my last attempts to solve the more adat cards under XP
thing did not quite interested anyone !!
I thought that this was a great finding and would lead with some help from
my friends to solve the adat mystery under XP !
Most of you say you cannot have more than one adat catd per mec, DJ achieved
the most two adat cards only on one mec on his eds multicard and mec system.
Now I managed to have two adat cards on two of the three mecs.
OK if all these are boring then I might loose my interest too and to rphrase
I might loose my interest in posting and trying to share experience and keep
whatever I do to myself.
Do I sound pissed off ?
Not quite but I am asking again is anyone interested ?
Regards,
Dimitrios

OK,
and I someone replies with yes I ma interested I would like some tryouts
from you too to sahre if this can be achieved onn your systems to finally
find out what is causing this adat mystery under XP.
I say again that I believe that only the last mec in chain needs tio have
only one adat card and all other mecs can have at least two !.
If I had more adat cards I could try to load them all so you who might have
more adat cards could try that...

Dimitrios

Dimitrios,

I think a part of the problem is that a lot of the folks who still hang here
no longer use Paris on a regular basis. I still do, but I'm a Mac guy, so
your XP experiments aren't relevent for me. And frankly, I'm seriously looking
around to see what my next DAW is going to be.

Hi Dimitrios,
I am hot on this one. At this time I only have two MECs and the
need for two ADATs. I was unable to get two ADATs working in MEC A
with none in MEC E and vise versa. I don't need a third ADAT card at =
this
time though it might be advantageous to have these two in one MEC D.
Do you think that will be possible if the new 442 is attached on card 5 =
as 442 E?
I'll give that a try. =20

I am interested in all things Paris. That's all I do these days beside =
gig.
Finishing up a jazz album today and another rock album this week =
hopefully. =20
I'll be ready to Dimtriosize my system some more after that.

The new Mackie Mixer Mixer is in and running by your design. That's a =
great
one! My plan will implement fours submixes with two mono and one stereo =
send
across them all with that simple install. Snakes weren't fun to solder =
but that's
over. I am waiting for five Mogami clock cables later this week also.

Lots of fun and all Paris!
Tom

PS I got a Creamware card because of your recommendation also. =20
This is getting scary!

Hi dimitrios,

I think one reason for this might be that Paris works better under Win ME
than XP anyway, but there are certainly advantages running XP. If I was
going to go back to Paris now, I would probably be looking at running under
win XP with the URS and Waves SSL plugin bundles and a separate computer
running VSTi's. It would be cool to be able to interface a pair of ADAT
modules in a pair of MECs to get this happening.

Sorry I don't have my mad scientist experiment around here any longer. I
should have just shipped everything to you and by now you would have
probably figured out how to fix every imaginable bug.

Cheers,

Deej

I'm interested D, and you've done some fantastic homework and problem
solving. Geez, I hope we don't all appear ungrateful to you. I've bought
software knowing full well I may not even get to install it for a weeks or
more. Unfortunately my personal time the last 3 years has been, well... non
existant and I might get to fire up my recording gear once a month these
days. Trust me though, when I tell you I watch your every post like a hawk
to see what you come up with next. The things you post today will absolutely
be of help and assistance to me when my life simplifies and I can get more
back to the things I love to do, not the things I must do.

Hey Dimitrios! I salute you for all your hard work! I always read your
posts, and there are many who lurk here that don't post. You are helping
more people than you know. I still use Paris but I'm on a Mac and I don't
get a chance to use it as much as I would like as well. For a long time
I have considered switching to XP for it's obvious advantages. My Macs just
work, and I dread the PC problems I've seen here for years. I prefer to
avoid the headaches, however, some day I may still give it a try, and all
your work and help will be absolutely needed.

Thanks again for your contribution!

OK guys !
I am reliefed that there are users still interested to what comes up with
Paris.
Thanks for your nice and kind words here really do appreciatte.
Yaeh I wish I hade one mec more and 2-3 adat cards to make a permanent adat
-Paris fix !
I am sure it has something to do also with the slots on mec.
Thus far I think that slots 4 and 6 for adat modules work good.
I was about to switch to Me cause I alradyhave made a harddisk with Me-Paris
install but while I have 5 adat modules across 3 mecs XP wil be still used
by me as main working OS.
Note that GHOST is your lifesaver everytime you have a working Paris setup.
I have also the feeling that Paris needs to "learn" your new configuration
for some time until you try the next big step.
Regards,
Dimitrios

Had you considered the possibility that no one's running the
ADAT cards under XP? I've got one, but I'm running it under ME.

Hi Dimitrios,

I enjoy following your activity. You and Deej have been the resident
mad scientists of PARIS for a long time and your efforts have been
read and appreciated by me. And now... with Deej out there in
whateversville, you're it.

I run a couple of dual MEC PARIS rigs on 98SE, they're solid and I
don't bother with mods. I also run a couple of native Samplitude
rigs.. Your posts have led me to consider combining one of each into
a hybrid... perhaps. Probably not, though, as I both of my systems
already sound great.

Your hot rodding activity is amazing to me.

Peace - Don.

Howdy Ya'll........... from Texas.

Well, well, it appears that Brian T is still alive and still uses Paris
on a regular basis, despite what you may have heard to the contrary. I
still drop in here now and again in lurker mode to see what's up, and
this is still the coolest collection of people on any newsgroup I've
ever seen.

Dimitrios has taken up the torch in the true spirit of bleeding edge
just-because-we-can-ism. I love it.

I currently have 8 EDS cards and 5 MECs running a total of 9 ADAT cards.
2x ADAT on MECs B, C, D and E and a single ADAT on the "A" MEC. I never
have a problem, other than it takes a while to boot Paris because of the
way the Paris app parses the hardware attached to the EDS1000s so
slowly. That's something Chris T tried to improve when we were fine
tuning the XP drivers at my studio, but when we sped it up on the XP
drivers, Paris would lock up while booting. Still don't know why.

The only consistent thing I can think of is that in all cases, my ADAT
cards are farthest from the MEC power supply. Other than that, it's just
turn it on and go.

I've been told that electrons seem to like me especially well, for some
reason or other. I suppose this could also be a factor. Say, you guys DO
talk nice to your gear, don't you?

Regards,
Brian T

Hi Brian,
Glad to see you are alive and kickin' using Paris in every day basis !!
I will be gathering all my own and other findings in a nice post to do
our regular homework with Paris just before summer comes :)

I am not a pusher in any way but have you had the time to listen to my
song Morgan has sent you ("When you call my name" )?
I would love a quick reply even if it is nothing special to you.
With regards,
Dimitrios

Hey Brian,

Good to see you're alive and well and that Paris stills figures into your
setup! Are you still running Nuendo? What DA converters are you using?

Thanks!

Dear Brian,
Thanks for sharing your setup "secrets"
Are your adat cards sitting on slots 8 and 9 ?.
These are the farmost from power supply.
Also on these B,C,D,E mecs are any input output cards sitting and if so what
slots ?
Finally on mec A where on adat card is sitting was this intended to do so
or this mec refused to accept more than one Adat card ?
Any ins and outs on this Mec "A" too , slots ?
I know these are many questions but believe me they might help a lot !
Thanks for sharing.
regards,
Dimitrios
