what the **** is happening on the PARIS master.

lately i have been running back into Nuendo where i generally eq and
compress the final stereo mix.

NOW... i am not squashing to death the final stereo mix, generally speaking.
:-)

i only use a compressor set in dual mono... not stereo linking... as this
gives me a noticeably increase in width.

i listened back to some mixes i did without this method. the final was
either printed in paris, meaning actually bounced in paris. OR the paris
master was sent via spdif back to Nuendo for a bounce... same thing i do now
without eq and compression on the return input to Nuendo.

upon listening back to those mixes... i prompty wanted to throw up!!!

because they were so much bigger and wider than my current method. was it
just those songs were better produced? has the most recent stuff i mixed
just been lacking in attention to detail from the producer? or is it
because of the freekin paris bus mojo magic enhancer thingy?

here is why i quit doing the paris bus bounce. i was tired of getting sawed
off waveforms. thats it. is that ridiculous or what?

sawed off waveforms are bad right?

WTF?

you do this right?... print back to DP, or Logic, using eq and/or
compression on the input return.

Yes I do this. My current mix config splits the digital output from Paris.
One set goes through two channels of my Mytek D/A converters , then into
my Mellennia NESEQ-2 then into a Portico 5043 then back into Mytek/Mac for
recording the 2-track. The second pair goes direct 24bit SPDIF out of Paris
into the Mac and records the 2-track mix simultaneously without the analog
“mastering”.

One of the features of the Paris mix bus that is not in the manual is the
fact that it is the only digital system that can induce euphoric vomiting. .

;o)
